Details of the the operation
The surgery comprises a knee arthroscopy operated by doctor Gerardo Garcés, the prestigious trauma surgeon from the Canary Islands and professor from ULPGC whom, wearing Google Glass, will simultaneously hold a master class during the operation via a streaming system, allowing thus anyone to point of view witness the event from anywhere in the world.
Meanwhile, the patient will be wearing the virtual reality headset from Oculus Rift that will allow themself to be isolated from the immediate hospital environment and the stress that accompanies a surgical operation, and be immersed in a virtual world of soothing sounds and images.

Initial tests held with this innovative device have proven to decrease patient heart rate and arterial blood pressure during the virtual experience and confirms the anxiety reduction relaxing effect in a hospital environment.
